What is a creative colour consultancy?
Creative colour consultancies take the form of a collaborative session either in home, or online, where we discuss room-by-room how best to use paint and colour to achieve the look and feel you want from your spaces.
Prior to the colour consultancy you will be sent a questionnaire to fill out with your likes, dislikes and any reference imagery you might have. Using this, I will create a bespoke mood board which is presented at the appointment as a starting point for our discussions.
Following the appointment you will receive a paint specification for each room, detailing the recommended colour and finishes we have landed on, alongside the mood board for your ongoing usage and hopefully some much needed inspiration and clarity following our conversations about the project direction.
What happens during the appointment?
During the colour consultancy, we’ll either meet in person at the property in question or online over video calling and firstly chat about your overall vision and how this might play out through paint and finishes, alongside broader creative ideas and interior decoration where applicable. We’ll then go through the property room-by-room and look at specific paint colours with the paint swatches to hand.
How does it differ from the colour consultancies that the paint brands offer?
It is a much more creative process and involves me trying to understand the overall look and feel of what you want to achieve, even if you’re not sure what that looks like yet.
The work and research done in advance of the colour consultancy, the mood board created, where I touch on overarching aesthetic ideas, make this a bespoke service - hence the idea of ‘creative’ colour consultancy.
Moreover, as an independent colour consultant, I have the ability to pull from a variety of brands, meaning the service is less prescriptive, we enjoy more freedom for creativity and I can recommend the best paint finishes without bias.
Anything else I should know?
I work with a wide variety of paint brands using the Little Greene and Farrow & Ball large colour swatch books as a starting reference but will readily dip into all of our other favourite brands (Edward Bulmer, Francesca’s Paints, Paint and Paper Library, Bauwerk, Mylands, Paper and Paints etc) when I know a specific colour or finish will be of interest.
Appointment are available Monday to Fridays.
Currently in-home appointments are available in London and surrounding counties only where travel is feasible. Virtual appointments are available for everywhere else in the UK but if you have a special request for elsewhere in the world, do let me know and I will see what can be arranged.
